I am waiting at the airport. My journey begins. But when does a journey really begin? At the airport, in the airplane or when I buy the tickets? Or even earlier, when I think about taking holidays, going somewhere, to explore or relax or to see some friends or family. A journey usually means to move away from home, to move from one place to another.
However a journey can take place in my head, but what can I discover then?
What a night in the airplane, 12 hours in a small seat. It can be as comfortable as I wish, but in reality sleeping in a airplane is a pain, especially when there is a nice lady to the left, who likes to cuddle up to my side.
I arrived at 16:00 local time in Singapore. First of course I had to go to the information to find my way to the hotel. Sometimes I am not so sure, if the people, I ask know in detail, how to go some place or if they just want to be polite. So I didn't find the shuttle bus, which should stop in front of the hotel, but then on the alternative way to the train, I found some other local buses. I simply asked around, paid the bus fee of 2.4 Singapore dollar (must remember next time to have some coins ready) and asked the driver to give me a sign, when I have to leave the bus. The bus ride was long, but interesting, at some stage the driver told me to get off and take bus 67 to continue. In the end I arrived at Little India train station, the bus trip must have taken 2 hours; from there I found my hotel without any problems. It was a 3 hour trip from the airport to the hotel, but I saw a lot of interesting things. The route is the journey.
The hotel is located by the Mustafa shopping center, where there is a lot, really a lot of things to buy and the corridors are quite narrow and full of people, which are gathering their items.
I found an incredible variety of vegetables, some of them I have never seen before, these are the exciting discoveries, I like to do, but where was the bread? Do the Singaporean people eat bread at all?
In the end I found a small choice of fluffy bread, also I found the tinniest of ants I have ever seen, barely recognizable by eye, they were running along the shelf with the sugary cakes, very busy, but I could not see them carrying anything away.
Until I found all the items, that I was looking for, I spent 2 hours in there, trying to get someplace, and there were more and more people everywhere. It might be a tactic, that I could not find the stairways and exits right away. Later I found that the shopping center is always open 24 hour; maybe, one night, if I cannot sleep, I will go there at 3 am just to see how busy it is then.
After a nice and super spicy meal at an Indian, my day was done, almost midnight, time to repose.
