Shopping in Skagaströnd

Skagaströnd is a small place, but there are always a few tourists coming to this remote place, most of them from Reykjavik, the other half from Germany, Switzerland or other parts of the world.

There is, beside the lovely gas station, where I recommend the crispy and juicy pizza, a grocery shop, where you can find all the necessary items for the basic needs.

So what to buy, when you are in Skagaströnd; first of all there is an excellent choice of sunglasses in both shops, you find here what ever your hearts asks for, the sportive, the shiny, the 70 style glasses and the crazy colourful ones. They are quite affordable, so treat yourself to one or two pairs of them.

Also, there is an unexpectedly wide range of different yarn and wool in the grocery store in all kind of colours and materials and they also sell a variety of needle material, to knit the next jumper, which you might need, whilst staying in Skagaströnd.

Last, but not least, visit the NES Artist studio down by the sea, there are always a few international and friendly people there, who work night and day in the former fish factory. And if you are very lucky, you might even meet Beardy Weardy or Grauman, the studio cat.
