The gas station

I have to admit, I love gas stations, like the one in Skagaströnd. This place offers much more than just the gas for the car, it is a promise, a dream. Immediately I think of the movies, where the gas station always has a crucial significance, like being the place for a random meeting, the secret hideaway, where two lovers meet or where some adventurous young men at heart hang out. There is always a distant hint of coffee smell in the air, as the coffee is kept hot on a heating plate.
The lonesome visitor can buy a cardboard cup and refill it as often as he wants with this dark brew, but the purpose of the coffee is to keep awake and not to have the best taste in the world. The serving personal has the magical role of being a companion as well as a life saver, who always comes up with good advice. Therefore the gas station becomes the home for the traveller, the tables and chairs are his friends. This space offers a weird feeling of arriving for the customer, although he knows, that he will not stay for very long.
Still people are drawn to this place, it brings them together, holds the opportunity for a short chat,    getting an update on the newest news, spacious relief facilities and sugary stuff in all varities for all  desperate people with a sweet tooth.
